LEWISTON, Maine - Law enforcement in Lewiston, Maine reported 22 people have been shot and killed. Fifty to sixty more people are believed to be injured.
Police in Lewiston, Maine have identified the suspect in the deadly shooting of 22 people and injuring 50 to 60 others as 40-year-old Robert Card.
According to the Main State Police Card is a trained firearms instructor and is also believed to be in the Army National Reserves out of Saco, Maine.
Law enforcement reported he was recently hospitalized for hearing voices and threatened to shoot the National Guard Base in Saco, Maine.
Card was released from a mental health hospital after being admitted earlier this year.
The AP reports, Maine State Police ordered residents in the state’s second-largest city to shelter in place Wednesday night because of an active shooter situation in multiple locations.
Lewiston Police said in a Facebook post that they were dealing with an active shooter incident at Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley.
