NEWS THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO SEE

BOULDER, CO - A new way for the government to skim from families has popped up in the Colorado House of Representatives, where Rep. Regina English, a Democrat, has introduced a pet tax for all pets — vertebrate and invertebrates.

Colorado House Bill 24-1163 would impose a tax of up to $8.50 on every pet, an annual fee.

MOSCOW - Questions quickly swirled over why the TV anchor would have traveled to Moscow, and whether he intended to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin during the visit.

"Democrats and their propagandists in the media are spasming at the prospect of Tucker Carlson interviewing Putin," Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

WASHINGTON D.C. - The federal government is extending its ban on foreign home purchasing in Canada, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced in a release Sunday.

The rule, which was first announced in 2022, will now be extended until the beginning of 2027. It bans foreign nationals and commercial enterprises from buying residential property in Canada, with exceptions for some international students, refugee claimants and temporary workers.

LANSING, Mich - Michiganders could pay more for paint in the future if House Bill 5370, introduced by Rep. Rachel Hood, D-Grand Rapids, becomes law. The bill, which Hood introduced Nov. 14, would impose a 25-cent-per-gallon excise tax on five-gallon buckets of paint and related products that are used for residential and commercial buildings (architectural paint).

WASHINGTON D.C. - Senate negotiators on Sunday evening released a long-awaited bipartisan deal to address what they called the “security crisis” at the southern border and to stem the surge of as many as 10,000 migrants a day from countries all over the world.

DENVER — Denver’s mayor said Friday the city is reaching a breaking point with migrant arrivals and could put a pause on taking in more people.

Johnston made the comments on KOA.

“We are considering it. We have to consider all options, particularly if there isn’t any help from the federal government,” Johnston said.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As of Feb. 2, state-level polls are calling for former President Donald Trump to sweep nearly every swing state and narrowly win the popular vote in the Nov. 5 election against President Joe Biden.

It’s yet to be seen which direction polls will trend from February-onward, and by what magnitude.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Following a children’s march at Shorecrest Preparatory School in Pinellas County, parents are outraged after it turned into an “activism rally” for third graders.

BOWLING GREEN, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis said at a press conference Friday that he opposes the promulgation of lab-grown meat in Florida.

Discussing his opposition to implanting an environmental agenda on farmers, the governor noted that lawmakers are working through legislation to ban lab-grown meat production.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The recent assault of two NYPD officers in Times Squares by a mob of illegal migrants appeared to befuddle a CNN panel for not committing similar crimes in Florida.

CHICAGO, IL - A federal judge told the state he is not interested in delaying a challenge to Illinois’ gun ban so government lawyers can figure out what the state legislature passed.

LANSING, Mich - There was a demand for transparency on all fronts Friday, after the Michigan State University Board of Trustees announced a timeline for its release of documents related to the Larry Nassar case.

Trustees voted back in December to release the withheld documents and offered an update on that effort at its Feb. 2 board meeting.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A Florida Highway Patrol trooper and a truck driver were killed Friday after the trooper followed a reckless driver who made an illegal U-turn into the opposite direction of Interstate 95, officials said.

The suspect initially got away and was chased by other troopers and deputies until he crashed into a tree and fled on foot. He was captured about five hours after the initial pursuit, following an extensive manhunt, authorities said.

BROOKFIELD, CT- “Disheartened, dismayed, and disgusted.” Those are the words of Brookfield High Principal Marc Balanda. No, he’s not upset because 57% of his students are not proficient in math. He’s upset because a tampon dispenser inside the boy’s bathroom was unceremoniously ripped off the wall.

🚨The Village of Birch Run, Michigan doesn’t record or live stream their public meetings. They’re not legally required to, but I think it would be something good to do for transparency. I talked to the village president who did not want to touch the issue.
