ATLANTA, GA - An illegal immigrant from Venezuela, José Antonio Ibarra, 26, has been arrested by ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations in Atlanta, in connection with the murder of University of Georgia (UGA) student, Laken Riley.
Multiple sources within the Department of Homeland Security have confirmed TO Ali Bradley from News Nation that Ibarra entered the United States illegally in September 2022, crossing into El Paso, Texas, and was subsequently released due to insufficient detention space.
CNN is not even reporting these details right now.

Authorities have stated that the tragic incident appears to be a crime of opportunity, with no known connection between Ibarra and Riley. Investigators were led to Ibarra thanks to the campus's camera system and witness testimonies. The ongoing investigation has also extended to a search of Ibarra's residence for further evidence.

In light of this tragic event, UGA officials have reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the campus community. Riley, originally a student at UGA until the Spring Semester of 2023 before transferring to the nursing program in Athens, was reported missing on February 22, after failing to return from her run. Her body was later discovered in a forested area behind Lake Herrick.
The UGA community, still reeling from the loss, came together for a vigil to honor Riley's memory. Described as an outstanding scholar and athlete, Riley's sudden passing has left a profound impact on her peers and faculty alike. Both UGA and Augusta University have cancelled classes to allow the community to grieve, and counseling services have been made available to those affected by this tragedy.
As the investigation continues, with the support of the Athens-Clarke County police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, authorities are urging the public to stay clear of the investigation areas and are actively seeking any additional information related to the case.
