UPDATE: Illegal migrants arrested in Michigan for soliciting children for sex

UPDATE:

Earlier this week, I reported Shiawassee County Sheriff Doug Chapman told me that three illegal migrants had been arrested for attempting to solicit sex from children.

Sheriff Chapman said the three men were unknowingly talking to detectives.

The Sheriff was not able to give me the names of the individuals who were arrested but did say they were all illegal migrants.

I relied on Sheriff Chapman for the information in the story.

Now, the Sheriff is telling the Detroit News a different story.

Detroit News Reporter Craig Mauger did a good job of following up on this story and digging into the records.

Sheriff Chapman told the Detroit News, "It was misinformation.”

Sheriff Chapman also told the Detroit News:

“Chapman eventually told The News he had received inaccurate details from the Shiawassee Human Oppression Team, a group that's led by the sheriff's office and that handled the arrests. The sheriff acknowledged that only one of the three individuals he had referenced was definitely in the country without legal authorization.

In the cases of the other two individuals, the sheriff's office was uncertain about whether they were in the United States legally, Chapman admitted.” "I don't have proof of that," Chapman said at one point. "They're suspected."

It also appears that in at least two of the three cases, there were no actual minors involved. Instead, the arrests were based on sting operations where law enforcement officials posed as children online.

I can not independently verify the information in the Detroit News, though I appreciate that Mauger was able to find more details.

I am all about transparency. In my original article, I reported what Sheriff Chapman told me and cited him numerous times. My goal is to always get accurate information to all of you.

SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich - Shiawassee County, Michigan Sheriff Doug Chapman confirms his department has arrested three illegal immigrants for attempting to solicit children for sex online.

“They can access the internet, and that’s how we have been successful in getting them,” said Sheriff Chapman.

Sheriff Chapman said the SHOT team caught the three individuals. The SHOT team is comprised of special investigators who look for people who are trying to meet up with children for immoral purposes.

Sheriff Chapman said one of the suspects is currently in the Shiawassee County Jail, a local judge gave the second one bond, and the third suspect has left the country and is now believed to be in India.

Chapman tells me four illegal migrants live in housing in the Owosso area. He says someone or some organization is paying for their stay.

I walked away from the mainstream media to break stories like this you aren’t getting in the MSM. Consider becoming a paid subscriber to support my independent journalism. For only $5 a month, you can quit at any time. Help me keep it real.

Chapman says two others are homeless in Owosso.

Sheriff Chapman says he has been in contact with ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement), and they know the situation.

“Some of the arrests of the migrants we have made are trafficking.  They have connections,” said Sheriff Chapman.

Sheriff Chapman, over the past year, has seen a slight increase in illegal migrants coming into Shiawassee County.

“People won't think it won't come to their area; it will when you have that many people coming to our area,” said Chapman.

Sheriff Chapman also said he has encountered many migrants who have not presented a danger. He said many of them are working in the agricultural industry in the area. He does say most of those working in the county do have work visas.

Sheriff Chapman says he believes the public needs to know about this danger.

“I’m not a politician; I want to make sure our community is safe.”

The Sheriff wants people in Michigan to understand the danger of the crisis at the southern border and how it impacts communities like Owosso and surrounding Shiawassee County.

MICHIGAN PORK ALERT

🚨PORK ALERT🚨Mackinac County, Michigan —one of Michigan’s smaller counties—received the highest per capita pork funding, at a staggering $725 per person. Meanwhile, Livingston County got just 62 cents per person. Even some of Michigan’s largest counties, like Oakland ($37 per capita) and Washtenaw ($76 per capita), received well below the average.

Even more shocking, 40 counties got nothing at all. That’s right—taxpayers in those areas helped fund this spending spree but saw none of the benefits. From Mackinac Center.

LANSING, Mich - n Wednesday, Michigan Attorney Dana Nessel joined a coalition of 19 state attorneys general in filing an amicus brief challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order suspending the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program.

The AGs oppose the Trump Administration’s attempt to withhold congressionally appropriated funding for refugee processing and services.

Trump’s Realigning the United States Refugee Admissions Program executive order indefinitely suspends refugee admissions and application processing, which Nessel and the coalition argue contradicts federal law, according to a news release.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - After President Donald Trump signed an order to ban transgender athletes from school sports, the NCAA claimed to have rewritten its rules to comply with the federal order. But now, women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines says that the league’s changes actually do not adhere to the president’s orders at all and would still allow transgender athletes to play in women’s sports.

Trump signed his order on February 5 to protect women’s sports from males who claim to be transgender females.

The very next day, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) claimed to have set a new policy to obey the new federal Title IX rules disallowing transgender athletes from playing as women.

However, Gaines, a former NCAA swimming champion turned women’s sports activist, says that the NCAA’s new rules are a sham. Click here to read more.

WASHINGTON D.C. - DOGE wants to see where our tax dollars go, and we should let them. No surprise that the “government industrial complex” will resist every effort to bring transparency and accountability to how those funds are spent when the system is ripe with problems.

I’ve had first-hand experience with USAID and other international aid organizations, such as the World Bank, UNESCO, and even the Red Cross, during my 40-plus trips to Haiti after being invited by then Haitian President René Préval to help rebuild the nation following the devastating 2010 earthquake.

And I’ve seen how USAID, along with other NGOs, delivered on very few of their promises, failed to coordinate relief activities, and even skimmed money off the top. Click here to read more.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Two Virginia Beach police officers were shot and killed during a traffic stop late Friday night, authorities said, plunging the coastal city into mourning as investigators work to piece together the circumstances of the deadly encounter.

The shooting occurred shortly before midnight in the 1000 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard, a busy corridor near the city’s Town Center, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department. Officials said the officers, whose names have not been released, were conducting a routine traffic stop when an occupant of the vehicle opened fire, striking both officers. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Click here to read more.

LAKE MARY, Fla. – The Lake Mary City Commission voted on Thursday to eliminate fluoride from the city’s water supply, joining a growing number of other Florida cities.

The city’s Public Works Director Danielle Koury confirmed with Florida’s Voice that the city commission voted to discontinue the addition of fluoride in its potable water supply.

Koury said the city has already began the removal process, and it will take approximately 60 days to complete the discontinuation and decommission the equipment.

Lake Mary follows a growing number of other Florida cities opting to remove fluoride from its drinking water, including Ormond Beach, Melbourne, Winter Haven, Palm Bay, Port St. Lucie, and Lee County.

Spectrum News 13 reported that Mayor David Mealor said the city will save about $100,000 in eventual repairs following the decision and pointed to recommendations from Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo as a key motivator. Click here to read more.
