WASHINGTON D.C. - The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives’ (ATF) National Firearms Commerce and Trafficking Assessment (NFCTA), Vol. III, undermines the left’s long-standing hysteria over a so-called “gun show loophole.”
The NFCTA examines gun trafficking and gun trafficking channels, both domestic and international. The ATF uploaded the NFCTA in various parts or segments, and part four looks at “source-to-market” trafficking.
Following decades of hysteria from the left resulting in gun control push after gun control push based on the so-called “gun show loophole,” one would think such shows to play a dominant role in intrastate and interstate trafficking. However, the NFCTA numbers show only 3.2 percent of ATF intrastate trafficking cases involve “trafficking in firearms at gun shows, flea markets, or auctions.” Click here to read more.

LANSING, Mich - The governments in Michigan that rely on property taxes levy a regular complaint that property taxes are limited. It is true that the state protects homeowners with a couple of property tax limitations. Even with these, property tax collections have been increasing above the rate of inflation for the past decade.
Property taxes raise the most revenue among all of the state and local taxes levied in Michigan. The latest annual report from the Michigan Tax Commission shows that property tax revenue increased from $17.5 billion in 2022 to $18.8 billion in 2023.
Property taxes are levied by state and local governments. Schools get the largest pieces, collecting 43.6% of the property tax. The state assessment, which is earmarked to education purposes, collects another 14.0%. Cities, villages and townships combine for 25.9% of the property tax and counties get 16.5% of the property tax. Click here for more.

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago saw more robbery victims in 2023 than in any year of the past decade, reporting 1 victim for every 250 residents. While crimes surged, robbery arrests hit a record low. Fewer cops is not helping.
More Chicagoans were robbed in 2023 than in any year in the past decade, a jump of 29% in a year.
Robberies had been on a long decline, but in recent years have increased rapidly. That makes another trend especially troubling: the robbery arrest rate fell to a 23-year low of just over 5%. Click here for more.

ROSENBERG, TX - Seventy-three years after he was shot escaping a temporary Chinese POW camp during the Korean War, the late Richard “Dick” Bowman has finally received his Purple Heart “on behalf of a grateful nation.”
Congressman Troy Nehls of Richmond presented the award to Bowman’s son, Charles “Charlie” Bowman, during a short ceremony at VFW Hall 3903 in Rosenberg on Friday.
“This is very moving for me, to know that I am able to present this medal to you for your father’s service,” Nehls told Charles Bowman, a veteran. “Should this have been done when your Pops was around? Certainly. But it’s never too late.”
Richard Bowman, born on July 6, 1930, served in the U.S. Army July 2, 1950 to July 1, 1951. He served in Co. “I” of the 34th Infantry Regiment in the 24th Infantry Division. Click here for story.
