LANSING, Mich - Fay Beydoun sparked a Venti-sized scandal when she used a state grant to buy a $4,500 coffeemaker. Beydoun, an Oakland County businesswoman, secured $20 million from the state for her nonprofit Global Link International, then used the money for several eyebrow-raising purchases. Lawmakers are calling for new oversight of state incentive programs.
People are understandably upset. This scandal should also give pause to lawmakers who are considering new subsidies for the film industry and other select businesses. Click link to read more.

WASHINGTON D.C. - The Biden administration appears to be repurposing a federal program aimed at helping kids in the foster care system transition to adulthood, instead using the taxpayer dollars to fund efforts by children to transition into the opposite sex.
Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) says federal taxpayer dollars can be spent towards buying “personal items” that support “a youth’s expression of their gender identity,” which typically refer to accessories such as chest binders and so-called packers, which are prosthetic penises used by girls who want it to appear like they have male genitals. LOS ANGELES, CALIF - The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) premier automaker, BYD, is selling a $12,000 Electric Vehicle (EV) that “could be a nightmare” for the United States auto industry without an all-out ban or steeper tariffs on such cars made by Chinese companies.
A report from the Detroit News, which interviewed several industry insiders, details the impact that BYD’s all-electric Seagull — which sells for just $12,000 in China and about $21,000 in Latin America — may have on American auto workers without fierce trade protections. Currently, former President Donald Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on China-made cars are the only reason BYD and other Chinese automakers have not flooded the U.S. market with cheap EVs to sell to American consumers. DEWITT, Mich. — DeWitt Public Schools Board of Education met amid interruptions and applauds for the first time since a controversial lesson on pronouns was canceled in an elementary school.
More than a dozen parents and community members spoke their concerns and praise for the lesson plan to board members in the DeWitt Middle School auditorium.
In April, parents were notified of an optional lesson expected to be taught to one first-grade class at Schavey Road Elementary School. The lesson would have included a reading of the children’s book “They, She, He, Me: Free to Be”, practicing using they/them pronouns and learning that it’s “not ok” to change someone’s pronouns on purpose.
