FORT MYERS, Fla. – Graphic footage of the moment a bank hostage suspect is killed by SWAT sniper fire earlier this year was released by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
“This is exactly what we train for. We train for worst case scenario, we train for hostage negotiations and what that means is going from worst case to best scenario and this is a very unfortunate incident, but I will tell you the two hostages being safe was our top priority,” said Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno immediately after the deadly incident unfolded.
On Feb. 6, police said the suspect entered Fort Myers Bank of America at 13099 US Highway 41 S.E. Cleveland Ave around 11 a.m. ET, and was armed with a knife. Minutes later, Lee County Sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement agencies were on scene. Click here to read more.

HANNAH, Utah (KUTV) — A small Utah town celebrated a 97-year-old grandmother who graduated from high school.
Kathryn Cole lives in Hanna, Utah, and helps students with reading at Tabiona Public Schools, which is about 60 miles (96 kilometers) from Heber City.
Her story reminds us "it's never too late." Even if you don't accomplish your goals in the timeframe you want, it doesn't mean you can't get there eventually.
For some of us, that graduation cap and gown are some of our first "uniforms" we put on in life. These symbols are known for acknowledging years of studying, tests, grades and classes. But for Cole, they recognize a lifetime of hard work. Click here to read more.

The New York Ice Cream truck set up shop near Astoria Park in Queens the other day. Parents were stunned to see the double-digit price tag for a basic ice cream cone.
“I gave her $20, thinking I was going to get some change back, and then she told me it’s more. They got me good,” parent Henry Fernandez told the New York Post.
Fernandez forked over $26 to treat his two kids a small sundae and shake float after playing soccer in the park. Other parents were also upset because the prices were hidden in an obscure section of the truck. Click here to read more.
