NEW YORK, NY - An Ecuadorian migrant is in custody in the brutal rape of a 13-year-old girl in a secluded part of a vast Queens park – thanks to a flood of flood of tips from local community members, including Good Samaritans who ultimately subdued the suspect early Tuesday.
“We had tips coming in actually naming the perpetrator, so they knew who he was,” said Joseph Kenny, the NYPD’s chief of detectives, during a news conference.
Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, is the name that tipsters gave to cops in the five days since the teen girl and a 13-year-old boy were held at knifepoint with a “machete-style” blade in the sickening, broad-daylight attack inside Kissena Park. Click here to read more.

LANSING, Mich - Michigan’s economic and fiscal future hinges on adopting sustainable budgeting practices. Insights from other states show the tangible benefits of fiscal restraint, efficiency, and lower taxes. By examining how other states have managed their budgets, Michigan can learn valuable lessons in improving its fiscal health and thus secure a prosperous future.
In 2023, Americans for Tax Reform launched its Sustainable Budget Project. This project monitors state government spending and tracks which states have enacted “sustainable budgets.” The Sustainable Budget Project defines a sustainable budget as one that grows no more than a specific rate: the inflation rate plus population growth, as expressed as a percentage. This project is similar to Mackinac Center’s Sustainable Michigan Budget.
For comparison, Texas has focused on fiscal discipline and low taxes, creating a business-friendly environment that attracts investment. It has kept government spending in check, which fosters an environment conducive to economic growth. As a result, it projects a $21 billion surplus next year despite the recent large budget increase. “It was later determined that Medina-Hernandez had no legal status in this country and ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] was contacted for further investigation,” according to an initial press release from the Shelby Township Police Department.
Two law enforcement sources told The Midwesterner Medina-Hernandez held a Michigan driver’s license, and a commercial driver’s license, prompting questions from Sen. Joseph Bellino about whether Benson “may be unlawfully issuing licenses to illegal immigrants.” Click here for more.

COLUMBUS, OH - NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – A small business owner in Nashville says he was shocked to see that Kroger had used his company’s photos to market their own similar products.
Stephen Rose is the owner of The Peach Truck, which has been selling fresh peaches for 12 years.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Rose said he got a Google alert about his business, but noticed it was actually for Kroger’s new peach truck, called Sweet Georgia Peaches, that will sell peaches in front of the store.
When Rose took a closer look at Kroger’s marketing photos, he said they looked a little too familiar. In one image from Kroger, Rose recognized an employee of his own business holding a box of peaches.
When placed side by side, the Kroger image looks identical to that of The Peach Truck’s, only the logo has been edited on the box.
WSMV reached out to Kroger to see if there were any validities to the claim and why Kroger allegedly took The Peach Truck’s images and doctored them. Click here to read more.
