WASHINGTON D.C. - Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle will testify next week before the GOP-led House Oversight Committee on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, the panel announced on Monday.
Scheduled to take place on Capitol Hill at 10 a.m. ET on Monday, the public hearing will give lawmakers and the American people a chance to hear first-hand about the attack that took place at Trump’s campaign rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
“The Secret Service has a no-fail mission, yet it failed on Saturday when a madman attempted to assassinate President Trump, killed an innocent victim, and harmed others,” Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said in a post to X, adding that his panel will “get answers.” Click here to lead more.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A staffer for a Democratic congressman from Mississippi was fired for her inflammatory comments that she hoped the shooter who targeted Donald Trump “wouldn’t miss next time.”
“I don’t condone violence but please get you some shooting lessons so you don’t miss next time ooops that wasn’t me talking,” Jacqueline Marsaw wrote on Facebook Saturday evening, shortly after Trump narrowly avoided being shot in the head during a rally in Pennsylvania.
Marsaw, of Natchez, worked as a field director for Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Natchez Democrat reported. Click here to read more.

CHICAGO, IL - Recent data from the Illinois State Board of Education shows the more Chicago Public Schools spends, the worse students perform on academic testing. Test scores and academic performance have continued to drop, while education spending has continued to rise – with most of the spending on payroll. Since 2012, education spending has increased by 97%, while reading proficiency has decreased by 63% and math proficiency by 78%.
About three-quarters of CPS students can’t read at grade level and even fewer can do math. Faced with that, what is the Chicago Teachers Union leadership seeking in its new contract? It is pushing a lengthy list of costly demands that have little to do with improving the academic performance of students and everything to do with politics.
These costly demands include housing for homeless students and families, $2,000 stipends for migrant students, subsidies for weight-loss surgery and drugs, more time off and environmental initiatives such as an electric school bus fleet. Their climate and social justice demands are political issues best decided by elected leaders rather than union bosses who are quick to strike and bargaining with their former co-worker. DEL RIO, TX - Social media is one of the influences leading a record number of Chinese migrants to the United States’ southern border, South China Morning Post reporter Bochen Han tells “NewsNation Now.”
Han said migrants see videos on the Chinese version of TikTok, Douyin, or through western social media said on X.
“[They] discuss with others who have made the journey before so they get a sense of what life in America might be like, they get a sense of what the packages are in terms of the ‘snakeheads’ (smugglers) they may have to use in terms of making the journey,” Han said.
Han has conducted interviews with some of the people crossing the border, learning about the experiences and aspirations causing them to seek asylum in America. Click here to read more.
