Trump vs Whitmer, Newsom or Harris
What do the polls show?
July 18, 2024

Several reports published Thursday indicate President Joe Biden could announce he may be stepping out of the race for President.

President Joe Biden faces increasing isolation as senior White House and campaign officials privately urge him to abandon his 2024 reelection campaign, deeming it untenable. In the aftermath of a poorly received debate, Biden’s inner circle has tightened, limiting his access to diverse perspectives and alarming many Democrats who question whether he is receiving accurate information about his candidacy's challenges.

High-ranking advisers like Anita Dunn and Bob Bauer have faced criticism from Biden’s family, further insulating the president. Despite public denials from campaign spokespeople, there is widespread internal despair and speculation about Biden’s future, with calls from Democratic lawmakers and constituents urging him to step aside. Biden, recovering from COVID-19 and in a contemplative stage, is reportedly deliberating his next steps, while the White House braces for potential Republican attacks should he choose not to seek reelection.

If Biden were to step down several names have been mentioned as a possible replacement:

  • Kamala Harris

  • Gretchen Whitmer

  • Gavin Newsom

  • JB Pritzker

If Vice President Kamala Harris becomes the nominee polling shows the race versus Trump would be within the margin of error.

🚨The Village of Birch Run, Michigan doesn’t record or live stream their public meetings. They’re not legally required to, but I think it would be something good to do for transparency. I talked to the village president who did not want to touch the issue.
