Initial Press Release - July 20, 2024

On Sunday, July 21, 2024, the Hancock Police Department responded to three incidents that appeared politically motivated. Two of these incidents involved vandalized vehicles. At approximately 5:45 PM on Anthony Street, the same suspect drove an ATV with the alleged intention to harm, running over an 80-year-old male who was posting a political sign in his yard.

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and remained in critical condition for several days. The police believed the ATV driver was involved in all three incidents, targeting Trump and Law Enforcement supporters.

The Hancock Police Department had been seeking community assistance in identifying the suspect before his identification and subsequent death.

This tragic series of events has left the community of Hancock and the surrounding areas in shock. The police department extends its gratitude to all who assisted in the investigation and continues to support the victim in his recovery.

Michigan school board approved teachers contract that reports say limits parents access

ROCHESTER, Mich - Many parents are not happy with the Rochester, Michigan, teachers union and school board.

The board approved a new union contract 5 to 2. According to the Detroit Free Press the contract includes a slew of new teacher protections, including how FOIA requests are handled, eliminates teacher effectiveness measurements, and even limits parents access to curriculum and classrooms.

I talked to a parent named Azita, who told me what it was like at the meeting at the disappointment she has in the board, teachers, and the teachers union.

The meeting, attended by both parents and union members, was far from calm said Azita, with parents describing the behavior of some teachers and union representatives as unprofessional and hostile. “They were screaming, cheering, and acting like children,” Azita recounted, expressing concern about the environment created by those in charge of educating their children. The parent warned that the contract's approval could lead more parents ...

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (AP) — A Venezuelan man with alleged ties to a violent transnational criminal organization was arrested Thursday after a physical and sexual assault in Prairie du Chien, police said.

Pririe du Chien is a small town in Wisconsin with a population of only 5400 people.

The Prairie du Chien Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of East Wells Street around 12:30 p.m., where officers found evidence that a male suspect had been physically and sexually violent toward an adult female. The suspect, identified as Alejandro Jose Coronel Zarate, 26, of Venezuela, was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail. He faces charges of Domestic Disorderly Conduct, two counts of Domestic Battery, Strangulation/Suffocation, Physical Abuse to a Child, Disorderly Conduct, and two counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault. Police said Coronel Zarate also had warrants in Dane County, Wisconsin, for Strangulation/Suffocation, False Imprisonment, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct.

Authorities believe Coronel Zarate is affiliated with “Tren de Aragua,” a known violent transnational criminal organization involved in various crimes, including homicide, abduction, extortion, drug trafficking, arms trafficking, human smuggling, and human trafficking, according to the National Gang Intelligence Center and the Department of Homeland Security. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was notified, and a detainer has been placed on Coronel Zarate, who is not a U.S. citizen.

“Mr. Coronel Zarate was brought to Prairie du Chien from the Dane County area. The victims in this case knew Mr. Coronel Zarate; this was not a random event,” Prairie du Chien Police Chief Kyle Teynor said. “This incident highlights the need to be aware of the dangers that affiliates of these transnational criminal organizations pose to our communities. Violence towards others, no matter the circumstances, cannot be tolerated in our community. Our agency remains committed to holding violent actors accountable for their criminal offenses.”

LANSING, Mich - After February 2025, every Michigan business must provide paid sick leave to employees — even teenagers who work a few shifts a week while taking classes.

Michigan small businesses are preparing for a minimum wage hike and a mandate to provide sick leave. The wide-ranging mandate applies to part-time, temporary and seasonal workers. Workers who are subject to overtime rules are included, as well as those who are exempt from them.

Many teenage workers will take advantage of the sick leave rule, Midland restaurant owner Tina Anganis told Michigan Capitol Confidential in a phone interview.

“Someone doesn’t have to show up to work for three consecutive days and you can’t fire them; they don’t have to call in,” said Anganis, who owns a Ya Ya’s chicken restaurant. “It’s setting a bad precedent for what kind of morals we want to set in the workplace.” Click here to read more.

COLUMBIA, SC - The University of South Carolina required students to affirm the value of "diversity and inclusion" as part of a mandatory training this summer, underscoring the tenacity of diversity programs in the face of public blowback and raising concerns about compelled speech at a school that has marketed itself as a bastion of free expression.

The right answer was that "diversity and inclusion exposes students to people from different backgrounds, thus enriching the overall campus experience." Click here to read more.

In December, Drew, a 36-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, drove more than 250 miles (400 km) to Mexico to buy cheap Ozempic to help him lose weight. Going home, he checked the pens. They looked unusual, so he shared photos on social media. The verdict: They were fakes.

Three people on Reddit said Drew's product looked like insulin. "If so, it would be dangerous to use," said one. A surge of insulin can cause a sharp drop in blood sugar that can lead to dizziness, seizures and death.

The incident sheds light on a wider problem in the manufacturing of highly sought-after drugs, one that lets criminal organizations circulate potentially lethal fakes: forged drug batch numbers. Click here to read more.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. - An undocumented immigrant from Guatemala now living in Russellville, Alabama, is pleading guilty to stealing a U.S. citizen’s ID and using it to get a passport and vote in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Angelica Maria Francisco, 42, has been living in Russellville, but federal prosecutors say she used the stolen ID to get a passport in 2011 and used that to travel back and forth to her native country, as well as vote in the primary and general elections of 2016 and 2020.

Francisco is pleading guilty to nine charges, including aggravated identity theft and false claims of citizenship connected to voting. Click here to read more.

WINDER, Ga — The FBI's threat operation center received anonymous tips about the Georgia high school shooter in the past.

"TheJackson County Sheriff's Office identified and located Gray, who is our suspect in this case, they conducted and investigation at that time and there was no probable cause for arrest or to take any additional law enforcement action.

Deported Illegal Alien Arrested in Horrific Child Abuse Case

Fox News is reporting, A Salvadoran illegal alien previously deported in 2019 has been arrested in connection with a disturbing child abuse case in Fairfax County, Virginia, involving two young brothers who were found chained at the ankles. The suspect, Franklin Arquimedes Viera-Guevara, 29, re-entered the United States undetected at an unknown time and location after being deported, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The boys, ages 7 and 9, were discovered in their mother’s home, leading to the arrest of both their mother and her boyfriend, Viera-Guevara. According to ICE, Viera-Guevara was initially apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on November 1, 2018, after unlawfully entering the U.S. near McAllen, Texas. He was processed for expedited removal and deported to El Salvador on February 1, 2019. However, he managed to return to the U.S. without inspection, admission, or parole by immigration officials.

Viera-Guevara was arrested by Fairfax County Police on August 16 on charges including two counts of child abuse and neglect with reckless disregard for life, two counts of child endangerment while in custody, and two counts of child abduction by force. Following his arrest, ICE lodged an immigration detainer against him with the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

The case has raised concerns about border security and the re-entry of previously deported individuals into the U.S. without detection【source: Fox News】.
