WASHINGTON D.C. - Vice President Kamala Harris once promised to close most of the nation’s immigration detention centers, saying she would “shut them down” as president. Such a plan would see about 90 percent of all illegal aliens held in detention released.
In 2019, while running in the Democrat presidential primary, Harris told a crowd in Iowa City, Iowa, that she would close immigration detention facilities operated by private contractors who work with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The left-wing American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has estimated that about nine in ten illegal aliens held in DHS custody are housed in privately owned detention facilities. That statistic indicates that Harris’s plan would see about 90 percent of illegal aliens currently held in DHS custody released. Click here to read more.

CHICAGO, IL - Teachers in Illinois can spend hundreds of dollars a year in union dues, but those dues don’t stay local: Most of it goes up the chain to the local union’s state and national affiliates.
Their own accounting shows those affiliates don’t use much of that money to represent local teachers.
One of the largest teachers unions in Illinois is the Illinois Federation of Teachers, the state-level affiliate of the Chicago Teachers Union. Each year, IFT and its national affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers, file reports with the U.S Department of Labor.
Those federal filings are telling. Teachers should know what those filings reveal about how IFT and AFT bosses spend their membership dues.
Concerned teachers have options that can keep the unions from siphoning money that mainly advances union bosses’ priorities rather than local teachers’ interests. Teachers can stop paying dues by opting out of union membership yet maintain all the raises and other benefits their employers provide. Click here to read more.

LOS ANGELES, CALIF - When I enlisted in the Army in 2001, I recall the part of in-processing that had me lying naked on an exam table with only a big, white sheet covering my body, tented by my knees. I was told that the physician was going to walk in, lift the sheet to observe my genitalia, and walk out. That’s exactly what he did. The U.S. Army found that my anatomy was commensurate with what is defined as “female.” In other words, sex was defined by anatomy.
Fast forward about 20 years, and I attended the September 2022 Contraceptive Technology Virtual Conference in an attempt to stay informed in my role as the clinical consultant for the Title X Family Planning Program in Kansas. Click here to read more.

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF - Breton reminded Musk of the ongoing proceedings against X related to alleged DSA violations, and the measures Musk must take to remain in compliance with the European Union’s restrictive tech regulation package.
“Therefore, we are monitoring the potential risks in the EU associated with the dissemination of content that may incite violence, hate and racism in conjunction with major political – or societal – events around the world, including debates and interviews in the context of elections,” Breton added.
The content that spreads on X from the Trump interview could alter the ongoing assessment of how well X is compliant with EU law. Musk has made free speech central to his reason for owning X, and has repeatedly expressed defiance when authorities have pressured him into censoring content online. Click here to read more.
