LANSING, Mich - At least 132 licensed Michiganders have been fined or disciplined for not completing implicit bias training in 2024, according to a review of state records conducted by Michigan Capitol Confidential.
In 2020, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued nearly 200 executive orders, many in response to COVID.
Executive Directive 2020-07 mandated that people seeking one of 26 occupational licenses complete implicit bias training as part of the license renewal process. The rule, which became active June 1, 2022, requires chiropractors, optometrists, sanitarians and others to take implicit bias training.
In 2024 so far, the fines totaled $75,874 across doctors, pharmacy technicians, and other health care occupations. Click here to learn more.

SPRINGFIELD, OH - Above, you can watch a City Commission public comment meeting from August 27 in the city of Springfield, Ohio, where citizens air their grievances about a wave of thousands of Haitian refugees settled in the town over the past year or two.
The first speaker Gary, about 55 minutes into the video above, complains that members of the city commission own LLCs that are making money off the "plot/scheme/agenda that brought the immigration here."
"This thing is killing this city while several of you are making money out of these LLCs and renting to the Haitians," Gary says.
Around five minutes later, a woman called Diane complains that people who are against the large-scale resettlement of Haitian refugees are smeared as racist.
"When folks stand up here and describe what is happening to them, they are often painted with a broad brush of racism," Diane says. "Color has nothing to do with what we're facing -- it is culture." Click here to read more.

BALTIMORE, MD -A record-breaking number of noncitizen sex offenders have been arrested in Maryland’s largest city, Baltimore Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed to NewsNation.
According to the department’s Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), a total of 161 offenders have been taken into custody this fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30. That tramples its previous record of 152, with three of the newest arrests coming from Thursday alone.
“The women and men of ERO Baltimore are the best in the business at locating and apprehending egregious noncitizen offenders,” acting Baltimore ERO field office director Matthew Elliston told NewsNation in a statement.
“I am extremely proud of our officers, and the 161 noncitizen sex offenders arrested is both impressive and monumental,” Elliston added. “What we find most rewarding, however, is that tonight there are 161 victims that no longer have to live in fear.” Click here to read more.

DENVER — A gunman driving on U.S. 36 fired on a parked Colorado State Patrol trooper on Saturday afternoon before he pulled over, got out of his vehicle and was killed by the wounded law enforcement officer in a shootout along the turnpike’s center median, authorities said.
The injured officer, identified by the state patrol as Cpl. Tye Simcox was taken to Denver Health and released later in the afternoon after being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
“I will tell you very directly that our member was targeted today by a man that intended to kill him, and that is shocking and unacceptable,” Col. Matthew Packard, the chief of the Colorado State Patrol, said during a news conference Saturday evening.
“But our Colorado state trooper responded appropriately and swiftly and courageously, and he won today,” he said. “And by winning, not only did he save his own life, but he saved the rest of his community from someone who was clearly intending to do evil.”
