LANSING, Mich - Gov. Gretchen Whitmer contends efforts to keep Stellantis from moving its headquarters out of the Great Lakes State is a “top priority,” though her social media antics raise questions about whether she’s serious.
“We have an open dialogue going on,” Whitmer told Crain’s Detroit Business at the Battery Show at Hunting Place in Detroit this week. “We want to help Stellantis see the wisdom and the opportunities for changing up their headquarters but making sure it stays here in Michigan. That dialogue is robust, continuous, and we’re not going to take our eye off the ball. We want Stellantis to continue to call Michigan home.”
Whitmer is in talks with Carlos Tavares, CEO of the company that produces Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge, over the possibility of relocating Stellantis’ American headquarters in Auburn Hills. Click here to read more.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich - OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Investigators believe a transnational gang is involved in the burglary of a luxury home in Oakland Township.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said the methods burglars used Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, in Oakland Township, are the same methods transnational gangs use to burglarize luxury homes.
“We encourage the community to be alert and call police about any suspicious activity in their area,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.
Previously, authorities have said they believe transnational gangs send people into high-end homes to steal cash and jewelry. The robberies appear to be targeted and not random. Click here for more.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced that in the midst of Hurricane Milton Thursday, deputies assisted a young pregnant woman to the hospital to deliver her baby while ambulances were unable to assist.
According to Judd, the sheriff’s office received a 911 emergency call Thursday around 3 A.M. regarding a young pregnant woman going into labor amid the ongoing impact of Hurricane Milton in Polk County.
Due to the severe winds, ambulances were unable to transport people. Deputies arrived at the home and met the expecting parents, Zenia and Javier.
One deputy assisted the couple into the patrol car, transporting them to the hospital, while two other deputies drove one of their relatives.
“Our deputies went back to the hospital later in the day to check up on everyone and learned that Zenia gave birth to a baby girl named Jade at about 1:30 pm,” Judd said. Click here to read more.

WASHINGTON D.C. - Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance appeared shocked Sunday on ABC News when co-host Martha Raddatz interrupted him mid-statement and attempted to downplay Venezuelan gangs’ takeover of Colorado apartment complexes.
The Tren de Aragua gang made U.S. headlines in September after officials confirmed ten members were involved in an investigation into a string of alleged criminal incidents at an Aurora, Colorado apartment complex, according to FOX 31. On ABC’s “This Week,” Raddatz pressed Vance on former President Donald Trump’s response, noting Trump claimed the city had been “invaded and conquered” by migrants, while the mayor called the statement “grossly exaggerated.”
“Well, Martha, you just said the mayor said they were exaggerated. That means that there’s gotta be some element of truth here,” Vance began. “Of course, President Trump was actually in Aurora, Colorado talking to people on the ground, and what we’re hearing is people are terrified by what has happened with some of these Venezuelan gangs — ”
“Senator Vance, I’m going to stop you because I know exactly what happened. I’m going to stop you. The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes and the mayor said, ‘Our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns.’ A handful of problems,” Raddatz said.
