LANSING, Mich - Michigan’s conservation police officers should get a warrant before entering private property, according to a new bill in the Michigan Legislature.

Houaw Bills 4073 and 4074 would require the police force within the Department of Natural Resources to obtain a search warrant before entering private property. They also would be required to wear body cameras.

Rep. Dave Prestin, R-Cedar River, testified on March 26 before the House Natural Resources and Tourism Committee in favor of the bills.

“Most people who have hunted on private land have a story about COs coming onto their land over minuscule issues, like not wearing enough orange or simply hearing a gunshot,” Prestin said, speaking of conservation officers from the natural resources department. “Conservation officers shouldn’t be permitted to bypass locked gates by driving into fields or walk miles onto private property on nothing more than a hunch.” Click here to read more.

In a 7-0 vote by the Bangor City Council in January, councilmembers approved a motion “to allow City Attorney (Scott) Graham to file charges with the court against all parties involved in statements that have caused harm to the city,” MLive reports.

The move was prompted by comments from concerned residents about City Manager Justin Weber also serving as police chief and other government transparency issues, and officials are now facing fierce backlash in the city and beyond. Click here to read more.

DEL RIO, TX - According to the latest numbers reported by the Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE), nearly four million non-citizens were issued Social Security Numbers in the United States during former President Joe Biden’s time in the White House.

Stuart Varney broke down some of the details during Tuesday morning’s broadcast of his Fox Business show, “Varney & Co.,” showing how the numbers exploded from 270,425 in Biden’s first year in office up to 2,095,247 in his last year as president.

“DOGE found that immigration gave a work authorization document to illegals just five months after they filed for asylum. That document allowed them to work while they waited to hear whether their asylum requests were being accepted or denied. So, they could work as an illegal, knowing it would take years before their case was heard,” Varney explained. Click here to read more.

DALLAS, TX - Nearly $250,000 has been raised for a high school student accused of fatally stabbing another teen at a track meet.

Karmelo Anthony, 17, is accused of killing Austin Metcalf at a track meet on April 2 at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco.

Anthony was arrested and charged with murder.

The 17-year-old’s fundraiser, which was posted on Give Send Go, says he’s been wrongfully charged with murder.

As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser had brought in more than $230,000 in donations. The goal has been set at $300,000.

“The narrative being spread is false, unjust and harmful,” the description says. “As a family of faith, we are deeply grateful for all of your support during this trying period. Your prayers and assistance mean more to us now more than ever.”

On April 2, Anthony was sitting in seats for Memorial High School students, but he was a student at Centennial High School. Click here to read full story.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has activated the New Mexico National Guard to help support the Albuquerque Police Department fight crime in the city.

According to the governor's office, the emergency request came from Albuquerque Police.

The governor's office says the fentanyl epidemic and rising violent crime among juveniles were cited as issues that needed immediate intervention.

There will be 60-70 National Guard personnel assigned to help APD beginning in mid-May while training has already started.

🚨The Village of Birch Run, Michigan doesn’t record or live stream their public meetings. They’re not legally required to, but I think it would be something good to do for transparency. I talked to the village president who did not want to touch the issue.
