House Passes DOGE Cuts Targeting Foreign Aid, NPR, And PBS

The GOP-led House moved on Thursday to cut billions in funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting, aligning with the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) recommendations to cut programs Republicans deem to be wasteful and ideologically driven.

A recissions bill that seeks to take back $9.4 billion in discretionary spending allocated toward foreign aid projects and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which provides funds to NPR and PBS, passed in a vote of 214-212 mostly along party lines.

“President Trump promised to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government, and today House Republicans took a strong step in delivering on that promise,” House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) told The Daily Wire. “By solidifying savings found by DOGE, we’re reining in reckless spending and getting our fiscal house in order.” Click here to read more.

FBI Arrests Man Accused of Dropping Off Bionic Face Shields to L.A. Rioters

The man accused of supplying Los Angeles rioters with “bionic” face shields has been identified and arrested, the FBI said. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

The FBI says it arrested Alejandro Theodoro Orellana on Thursday after he was reportedly identified as the man driving a pickup truck and distributing the face shields to rioters, the New York Post reported.

US Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli said on X that Orellana faces charges of conspiracy to commit civil disorders for distributing the face shields to suspected rioters.

“We are moving quickly to identify and arrest those involved in organizing and/or supporting civil disorder in Los Angeles,” Essayli said. Click here to read more.

Michigan man facing federal charges for social media threats against Trump, JD Vance

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WWMT) — A Grand Rapids man is facing charges for allegedly publishing threats to kill President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Elon Musk on social media.

Tuesday, a federal grand jury moved to charge James Donald Vance Jr. with one count of threatening to kill and injure the President and Vice President of the United States, and two counts of interstate threatening communication, according to court records.

I will either be shot by a secret service sniper or spend the rest of my life in prison. I’ve only got about 10 years of life left anyway so I don’t f*****g care either way.” Click here to read more.

Local Small Business Developer Sues South Carolina Town Trying to Take Away His Property

JAMES ISLAND, S.C.—Can a town use eminent domain to take a small developer’s land simply because they don’t want anything built there? That’s the question raised by a lawsuit filed by Kyle Taylor, who seeks to prevent the town of James Island, South Carolina, from taking his property.

For years Kyle has been trying to develop a piece of property in his hometown. But an organized campaign of anti-development activists working with the local government has tried to stop him at every step of the way.

After overcoming numerous roadblocks thrown at him in an attempt to make Kyle end his project, the town has chosen to use the power of eminent domain to take his land. The Institute for Justice (IJ) now is joining with Kyle to protect his constitutional rights and keep his property.

James Island says it wants to take the land for a park—not because the town was planning for a park, but because that appears to be the only way to stop Kyle. This extreme tactic is becoming increasingly popular for local governments that want to prevent legal development of property. To protect his rights to keep his property, Kyle is fighting back with a lawsuit against James Island in state court. Click here to read more.

🚨The Village of Birch Run, Michigan doesn’t record or live stream their public meetings. They’re not legally required to, but I think it would be something good to do for transparency. I talked to the village president who did not want to touch the issue.
