Taylor, Michigan School Superintendent Bans Political Displays in Classrooms follow pushback from parents. Decision follows national debates ove

TAYLOR, Mich. - Taylor School District’s superintendent Mike Wegher announced a ban on classroom displays considered politically controversial after a photo surfaced of a local classroom decorated with a Black Lives Matter flag, a “Science is Real” banner, and a Taylor Swift poster.

The image sparked backlash in the community, with some parents arguing the displays promoted political messages. Superintendent Mark Maloney said the new policy will prohibit all political symbols, including Black Lives Matter, “Blue Lives Matter,” and “Don’t Tread on Me” flags.

“This policy applies across the board,” Maloney said. “Whether it’s BLM, Blue Lives Matter, or Don’t Tread on Me, we’re not allowing any of it. Our classrooms should remain focused on education, not political debate.” He noted that items tied directly to classroom material would still be permitted but acknowledged it could take time for staff to adjust.

The move places Taylor among a growing number of ...

U-M prof defends Charlie Kirk assassination: Violence ‘is a solution’ to ‘violent rhetoric spewed by empowered people’

Amid the breaking news Wednesday of the political assassination of free speech champion Charlie Kirk while giving his opinions on the Utah Valley University campus, University of Michigan Associate Professor Charles H.F. Davis III posted this on X:

Even if you believe violence isn’t the answer, it is a solution, especially to the violent conditions and violent rhetoric spewed by empowered people that create them.

— Never Forgive Them for What They’ve Done (@hfdavis) September 10, 2025

“Even if you believe violence isn’t the answer, it is a solution, especially to the violent conditions and violent rhetoric spewed by empowered people that create them,” Davis wrote.

He reposted several tweets defending the murder.

Davis reposted, “Charlie Kirk is a reminder of two things: your words don’t skip consequences, they just collect interest. And lastly, empathy has boundaries. Good luck.”

Among several others, Davis also reposted, “He spent his entire life disparaging immigrants, disrespecting women, and blaming black folks, only to get shot in one of the whitest places on earth.” Click here to read more.

Pam Bondi Puts School Districts on Notice About ‘Abusive’ Acts Against Parental Rights

Attorney General Pam Bondi directed the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division Wednesday to champion parental rights at schools and monitor attempts to undermine them.

“Recent years have seen a disturbing trend in which state and local authorities have brought radical gender and racial ideology into our public schools while suppressing dissenting viewpoints,” Bondi warned in a memo to the division. “Worse still, they have ignored, dismissed, and even retaliated against concerned parents who speak out against these morally and factually bankrupt ideologies and in defense of their own children.”

Bondi directed the Civil Rights Division “to be alert to violations of parental rights and First Amendment liberties in educational settings.” She also directed U.S. attorneys to “work with federal, state, and local partners to identify and respond to credible threats against parents and violations of their federal rights.” Click here to read more.

Police say burglars arrested after stealing electronics, contacting victim for password

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. -Two people were arrested Tuesday in connection to a burglary in the Paintsville community.

“They had a lot of electronics, computers, household items stolen. They also discovered once they got back in town that their business- they own a local business- their business bank card debit card has been taken,” said Paintsville Public Safety Director Darrell Preston.

FOX 2 - Meet a man who had bracelets made for his buddies, they come with a message and a condition - he hopes will save lives.

The backstory:

The PSA test looks at a level of a specific protein in the blood, Williams' concerning level prompted a biopsy which confirmed the cancer.

Two Days Before Shooting, CNN’s Abby Phillip, Van Jones Went on Offense Against Charlie Kirk over Charlotte Killing

Monday, during CNN’s “NewsNight” broadcast, host Abby Phillip and CNN contributor Van Jones attacked Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk for likening the fatal Charlotte stabbing of Iryna Zarutska to the 2020 George Floyd incident in Minneapolis.

Phillip offered a clip from Kirk’s program where he made the point, which Jones declared Kirk “should be ashamed of himself.”

Partial transcript as follows:

ABBY PHILLIP: So, certain people have been looking for an opportunity to find a case like this, to make a point like this. I want to play, this is Charlie Kirk, why he says this hasn’t gotten a lot of attention.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

CHARLIE KIRK, HOST, THE CHARLIE KIRK SHOW: A white Ukrainian refugee was murdered just because she was white. Everybody knows that obviously. If a random white person simply walked up to and stabbed a nice law-abiding black person for no reason, it would be an apocalyptically huge national story used to impose national, sweeping political changes on the whole country. Instead, Meghan Basham, no one seems to care when a white woman gets stabbed to death.

Florida appeals court declares open carry ban is ‘unconstitutional’ in win for 2A advocates

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida’s open carry ban has officially been overturned by a state appeals court, which ruled the restriction violates the Second Amendment.

The ruling was issued Wednesday by Florida’s First District Court of Appeal and stemmed from a July 4, 2022 case in which Stanley Victor McDaniels was arrested for violating the ban and later appealed his conviction, according to the court’s opinions.

Under current law, Floridians are prohibited from openly carrying firearms except in limited circumstances, such as while hunting or camping. Concealed carry without a legal permit is legal in Florida, but open carry has long remained restricted.

The opinion described Florida as an “outlier,” noting it is one of only a few states – along with California, Connecticut, and Illinois – that generally prohibit the open carrying of firearms. Click here to read more.

Christian School Banned for Religious Beliefs Wins Legal Victory

A federal appeals court ordered Vermont to let a Christian school compete in state-sponsored sports events—even though the school doesn’t support the state’s view of “transgender” ideology.

That decision allows the school to finally participate in athletics again after suffering a yearslong ban for forfeiting a game that would have forced girls on its team to compete against a male playing on the opposing girls’ team.

In an opinion released Tuesday, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held that state officials likely “displayed hostility toward the school’s religious beliefs” by banning it, and it instructed Vermont to let the school compete while the case continues.

High school football coach escorted out of game after complaint he was pushing religion on players

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A Tennessee high school football coach was escorted out of a game over accusations he was pushing religion onto players. Some students and parents argue he was doing nothing wrong.

Trey Campbell, an assistant football coach at Northwest High School, was asked to leave Friday night’s game during halftime. The school says they got a complaint he was “proselytizing,” or pushing his religion onto the players.

Northwest senior Alyssa Scholma, who was at the game, says Campbell had prayed with students and was holding his Bible. She adds she did see a few players going up to him.

“He was just reading to himself, and then, people tried to come up to him. He’s never gonna deny spreading the word of God. He’s never gonna do that. So, he did start to share that with them,” Scholma said. “During halftime, he was called over by our principals, and they told him that if he did not put his Bible down, then he had to leave.” Click here to read more.

GOP Reps Move To Oust Judge Who Freed 14-Time Offender Before Brutal Train Murder

Ten North Carolina Republican Reps., led by Rep. Tim Moore (R-NC), called on Tuesday for the removal of Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes, who released 14-time offender Decarlos Johnson Jr. before he murdered Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.

Moore shared a letter, signed by nine of his colleagues, in which he called on Chief Judge Roy Wiggins to begin “formal removal proceedings” against Stokes, saying that her decision to release Johnson — based solely on his written promise to return for his next court date — had been, at best, “reckless.”

“Despite his history of violent and unstable behavior, Magistrate Stokes released Brown without requiring bond or imposing any meaningful conditions to safeguard the public,” the letter read.“This reckless decision had devastating consequences,” the letter continued, referencing Zarutska’s murder. “Ms. Zarutska’s murder was not only a profound personal tragedy but also a direct result of a failure of judicial responsibility. Magistrate Stokes displayed a willful failure to perform the duties of her office and engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice.” Click here to read more.

Parental Rights, School Choice ‘Hit a Tipping Point’

More than half the nation’s students now live in states with school choice, new data shows.

Over a dozen states made progress on school choice over the past year, including six that adopted universal school choice policies allowing all students to receive some form of funding to attend schools of their choice. Meanwhile, a full 25 states now incorporate a “parent bill of rights” affirming that parents, not the state, are the primary caregivers.

That’s according to Heritage Foundation Report Card, an annual report that ranks states based on how well they advance education freedom and school choice for families. Click here to read more.https://www.dailysignal.com/2025/09/09/parental-rights-school-choice-hit-a-tipping-point/

Home Auto Shop Owners File Constitutional Challenge After Township Threatens to Shut Business Following Dispute with Township Supervisor

Zoning laws were never meant to give government the power to erase a harmless, beloved 24-year-old business. Yet that’s exactly what North Whitehall Township is doing to Gene and Debbie Weierbach’s auto repair shop—weaponizing the zoning code to shut it down. But the repair shop has broad community support and has operated in that location for more than two decades. And yet North Whitehall is singling them out—all because they crossed the township’s most powerful politician.

The Weierbachs run a small, appointment-only auto shop from their home’s garage. Tucked away on their secluded 16-acre property, the shop is hidden from view, has never drawn a single complaint, and enjoys the full support of neighbors. For Gene and Debbie, the shop is more than just a livelihood—it makes it possible for Gene to remain at home to care for their autistic adult son. Click here to read more.

Affordability Crisis Sends Americans Packing From Big Cities

For much of the past century, in both the United States and elsewhere, the inexorable trend has been for people to move from rural areas and towns to ever larger cities, particularly those with vibrant downtown cores such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, and dozens of other iconic American cities. Most visions of the future still view urban cores as the uncontested centers of production, consumption, and culture, with rural areas, small cities, and suburbs relegated to the backwaters of modernity.

A RealClearInvestigations analysis has found that we may be on the cusp of a new era. Urban cores have started to shrink, losing first to the suburbs, then to ever further exurbs, and now to small towns and even rural areas. For the first time since the 19th century, America’s growth pattern favors smaller metros – Fargo, North Dakota, as opposed to Portland, Oregon – many of which once seemed out of favor.

This transformation can be hard to detect because demographers often discuss metropolitan regions, which put city centers at their cores. Click here to read more.

Whitmer admin’s bungled pandemic unemployment approvals force 350,000 Michiganders to repay $2.7 BILLION

Ineptitude at Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency means about 350,000 Michigan workers must now repay the state $2.7 billion in overpayments.

“We understand the impact of these collections will have on household budgets. That is why we are providing notice and information about applying for a financial hardship waiver,” UIA Director Jason Palmer said in a statement Monday. “At the same time, we are legally obligated under the Michigan Employment Security Act to seek repayment and we must fulfill our responsibility to ensure taxpayer money is returned to the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund, so workers can count on money being available if they need it in the future.”

A court-approved settlement in the class action lawsuit Saunders v. UIA will resume repayments paused five years ago on Sept. 12, 2025, with the first payments for those affected due on Sept. 29. Click here to read more.
