Ballot proposal would restrict free speech, opponents say

Michigan voters on Nov. 3 will decide a ballot proposal marketed as limiting the political influence of utilities and government contractors by amending the state’s campaign finance laws.

Proposal 2026-2, also known as Mop Up Michigan, would prohibit most regulated utilities, government contractors, and people closely connected to them from making some political contributions. It would also regulate certain forms of political communications.

Voters might likely support the measure in an attempt to stop utilities such as DTE Energy and Consumers Energy from asking for endless energy rate hikes, but the measure, if enacted, would gag the free speech of nonprofits, news sites, and job providers, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce argues. Scientists are finding AI may make us remember things that never happened

The experiment began with 24 ordinary photographs: a wedding, a city street, a race. Pattie Maes, a professor at the MIT Media Lab, and her colleagues showed them to 200 people.

After a break, some saw the same photos again. Others saw AI-altered versions — with facial expressions changed, military personnel inserted or signs of climate change added.

Then came a memory test.

Maes winced at the results. Those viewing the AI-altered images had a large increase in false recollections. Even worse, she said, their confidence in the false memories was higher.

“I think of all this as very dangerous, basically,” Maes said. Click here to read more.

Unearthed 2021 Abdul El-Sayed Substack post exposes another link to Muslim Brotherhood

An unearthed blog post is exposing another direct tie between U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, a designated terrorist organization.

In a 2021 post to El-Sayed’s now defunct Substack page The Incision, the former Wayne County health official linked “the hypocrisy of police rejecting vaccine requirements” to the situation with his “friend Mohamed Soltan.”

In the post unearthed by The Washington Free Beacon, El-Sayed bemoaned policing as the “bluntest form of government power,” noting it gives the government “a monopoly on the legitimate use of power.”

“It can shut down our businesses (public health orders), move us out of our communities (eminent domain), force us to give it money (taxes or penalties), arrest our bodies (incarceration), and even put us to death (the death penalty),” he wrote. “As noxious as our government can be today … imagine living long ago under a monarch whose caprice could have you arbitrarily taxed … or jailed or hanged. (FOX 2) - An assistant football coach for a Detroit high school has been charged in connection with two non-fatal shootings that wounded a woman and her 7-year-old daughter.

Families suing over alleged organ harvesting of Alabama inmates await 2027 trial

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A Montgomery County Circuit Court judge said a trial is expected in December 2027 in a lawsuit accusing the Alabama prison system of illegally harvesting organs from people who died while incarcerated.

The plaintiffs are families who allege that the state’s prisons illegally harvest their loved ones’ organs.

“No justice has been done, and I am just tired, I’m sick and I am - my whole family is just tired,” said Agolia Moore, the mother of Kelvin Moore, who died in 2023 at the Limestone Correctional Facility. “It’s time for something to be done.” Click here to read more.

FBI arrests Oklahoma man tied to white powder letters sent before 2024, 2026 elections

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA (KOKH) — The FBI has arrested an Oklahoma man in connection with sending letters with nonhazardous white powder to officials ahead of the 2024 and 2026 elections, according to AP.

Robin Martin has been arrested and charged with conveying a hoax and mailing threatening communications.

The powder in hundreds of letters Martin sent has been identified as yeast or flour. The FBI has stated that not all letters have been fully tested at this time.

The AP has reported that the Senate Sergeant at Arms stated that law enforcement officials are working to intercept any additional letters. Click here to read more.

The Ghost in the Voter Rolls

t is a mistake to try to solve our election integrity crisis by focusing on individual elections. The real issue isn’t whether fraud flipped any particular race. It’s that voter-registration systems contain structural failures so severe—mass cloning, covert algorithmic tagging, irreconcilable records—that we can no longer know how many unique, eligible people voted in the first place. Both “fraud occurred” and “the election was clean” become unverifiable. Unverifiable elections should be uncertifiable.

American elections rely on voter registration lists, called “voter rolls,” as the basis for voting. Voter rolls are supposed to contain a list of every qualified voter and their voting history. A qualified voter is any person who meets the legal requirements for voting: a U.S. citizen, over 18 years of age, resident at the given address for at least 60 days, with no restrictions on their civil rights. Ballot Scanners Fail In Crucial House Race, Votes Forced Into Orange Bags

Republican incumbent Mike Lawler of New York’s 17th Congressional District is urging voters to stay in line as countywide ballot issues are preventing votes from being processed.

“The Westchester County Board of Elections (BOE) is aware of an issue involving paper ballots that is preventing voting machines from accepting ballots at polling locations throughout the County. The Westchester Board of Elections wants to reassure every voter that your vote matters, your ballot will be secure and your vote will be counted,” the Westchester County Board of Elections, whose county makes up a large part of Lawler’s district, announced.

Congressman Lawler has played a vital role in maintaining the thin Republican majority in the House of Representatives, and many polls have placed his election as a toss-up. Click here to read more.

‘We forgot what it’s like to be populist’: Republicans see Trump’s 2024 crumbling

Republicans’ 2024 coalition is cracking in real time.

President Donald Trump roared back into office two years ago after making major gains with young voters and Americans of color. Now those key groups appear to be moving away from him amid an unpopular Iran war and his lagging approval ratings, according to new results from the POLITICO Poll conducted by PF Global.

Roughly 9% of Trump 2024 voters plan to cast their ballot for a Democrat this year, compared with just over 2% of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ voters who now plan to back Republicans. Click here to read more.

Sophie Cunningham Hires 24/7 Security After Stalker Reveal

Sophie Cunningham’s persona grew exponentially this year. While her play on the floor has been solid, the former Fever guard gained national headlines and near-instant recognizability for her words and actions off the court.

On Monday’s edition of her No Hesitations podcast, Cunningham revealed that her growing fame has prompted her to take more precautions, such as hiring a professional guard.

“I will say… definitely in certain places people kind of knew who I was and I couldn’t really go anywhere,” Cunningham said. “Now it doesn’t matter what state, what city, it’s everywhere.

“And so I’ve hired security, and they’re going to start traveling with me actually next week, 24/7. So that’s a little different. It kind of stops you from your regular routine.” Click here to read more.
