Craig Mauger with the Detroit News is reporting that bills to allow the state to override local gov't decisions on large-scale wind and solar projects are scheduled to be considered by a Michigan Senate committee Tuesday:

According to Bridge, under House Bills 5120-23, the Michigan Public Service Commission would have permitting authority over wind, solar and energy storage projects over 100-megawatts (350 acres for a project that generates 7 megawatts-per-acre) and wind projects over 100-megawatts (about 35 turbines), along with large energy storage projects.
Michigan House Bill 5711, which would roll back the state’s clean energy mandates for utilities, has cleared the House Energy Committee and is headed to the full House for a vote.
If approved there, it would move to the Senate for consideration.

The USGS says a magnitude 2.9 earthquake hit about 7 km south southeast of Amherstburg, Canada, just across from the Detroit area. It happened at a shallow depth of about 2 km.
