LANSING, Mich - In recent history, Memorial Day has meant the unofficial start to summer. Families BBQ on the grill, the local pool announces its opening day, and retailers promote big sales.
While everyone has the freedom to celebrate as they choose, Americans should also remember that this holiday is really a somber occasion to pause and reflect as a nation.
The holiday takes place annually on the last Monday in May and is a dedicated day for honoring U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces.
Over 1.3 Million Americans have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their nation. Click here to read more.

WASHINGTON D.C. - While President Joe Biden is known for his blunders and colorful turns of phrase, his staffers increasingly are correcting his words after the fact via strikethroughs in the White House transcript.
The written record of a May 19 campaign speech in Detroit includes no less than nine corrections, a few of which created mini-news cycles of their own in real time. One was when Biden recalled being vice president during the pandemic, saying “Barack,” meaning former President Barack Obama, told him to go to Detroit and “help fix it.” But Biden was running for president during the pandemic, and Obama had been out of office for three years. CHICAGO, IL - Venezuelan Tren de Aragua prison gang members are being arrested thousands of miles from the border after having illegally entered the U.S. in Texas.
The Venezuelan prison gang is well-known for orchestrating murders, bribery schemes and money laundering, drug and arms trafficking, and kidnappings for ransom money. In March, U.S. Sens. Marco Rubio and Maria Elvira Salazar, both Florida Republicans, called on the president to officially designate Tren de Aragua as a Transnational Criminal Organization.
“Tren de Aragua is an invading criminal army from a prison in Venezuela that has spread their brutality and chaos to U.S. cities and small towns,” they said. “If left unchecked, they will unleash an unprecedented reign of terror, mirroring the devastation it has already inflicted in communities throughout Central and South America, most prominently in Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru. The breadth of Tren de Aragua’s operations encompasses murder, drug and human trafficking, sex crimes, extortion, and kidnapping, among other brutalities.” Click here to read more.

LOS ANGELES, CALIF - For years, dollar stores were a fixture in nearly every strip mall in California, offering cheap household goods, bread and produce, and even toys and gifts.

NASHVILLE, TN - Davy and Natalie Lloyd, the young missionary couple who were serving in Haiti when they were killed by Haitian gangs on Thursday, had a heart for the people of Haiti and “reached countless lives in so many ways,” according to Missouri Republican state Rep. Ben Baker, who is Natalie’s father.
Davy, Natalie, and Jude Montis, the local director of Missions in Haiti Inc., were ambushed by a gang while they were leaving a youth church activity in northern Port-au-Prince. The three missionaries took cover in a house but the gang found them and started shooting at the house, Davy’s sister Hannah Cornett told the Associated Press. Missions in Haiti, Inc. posted on Facebook that “Davy was taken to the house tied up and beat” before a different gang showed up and appeared to exchange gunfire. Click here to learn more.

NAPLES, FLA - Liberal district attorneys have left America's cities 'ruined' and would be better employed 'filling ice-cream cones', according to Judge Judy.
The veteran reality TV star said the country is in worse shape than it was 30 years ago because 'a small group of people who have very loud voices created a scenario where bad people got rewarded'.
And she lashed out at a culture that increasingly excuses people's behavior on the basis of their background.
'Oh I know how we got here,' she told Fox News Digital.
'When society started to make excuses for bad behavior, and react to criminality based upon the excuses, it fell apart.' Click here to read more.
