WASHINGTON D.C. - Vice President Kamala Harris unveiled a new proposal Monday all but promising to distribute forgivable small business loans on the basis of race as she struggles to gain the support of black men.
The Harris campaign rolled out its “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men,” which proposes to give one million $20,000 loans to black entrepreneurs and “others who have historically faced barriers to starting a new business or growing an existing business.” The policy is aligned with the Biden administration’s broad effort to prioritize or otherwise incorporate race into several major government programs and initiatives, such as its payments to black American farmers who faced discrimination before 2021 and its Justice40 agenda stipulating that 40% of the benefits of certain environmental spending and programs flow to “disadvantaged communities.”
“Drawing on insights from her experience throughout her career and her Economic Opportunity Tour, today Vice President Harris is laying out an Opportunity Agenda for Black Men to provide them with the tools to achieve financial freedom, lower costs to better provide for themselves and their families, and protect their rights,” the Harris campaign wrote in its new plan. HANSON, Mass - A Massachusetts town is threatening to impose a $100-per-day fine on a resident who is projecting a Trump campaign sign on a local water tower, according to a statement from the town administrator released Oct. 12.
The town of Hanson in Plymouth County is ordering the man to stop displaying the “Trump 2024” logo on the water tower because it belongs to the town, Boston 25 News reported.
The local resident responsible for the illuminating Trump sign is using a projector on top of a storage container in his backyard, Boston 25 News reported. Town officials attempted to block out the political message with a floodlight, but the message remained visible Friday evening, according to the New York Post.
Lisa Green, the town administrator of Hanson, said in a statement that the town does not endorse political candidates and is working on a cease-and-desist order. Click here to read more.

ORLANDO, FLA - Disney has come under fire over a theme park show that it says is suitable for all ages even though it is littered with raunchy jokes about its characters using gay dating app Grindr and wanting to 'pound' each other.
Called Story Time with Deadpool, the show plays at Disney's California Adventure park and is based on the Deadpool & Wolverine movie which hit streaming platforms last week and had the highest-ever domestic debut for an R-rated film.
It stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the eponymous anti-heroes who reluctantly team up to save the universe. Although they are characters from Marvel comics and wear colorful costumes, it is anything but a children's film as it features F-bombs aplenty, repeated references to hardcore sex acts and jokes about taking cocaine.
The theme park show doesn't refer to drugs but courts just as much controversy as the movie.
It is Disney's first theme park character experience which promotes an R-rated film and it takes the format of stand-up comedy. The show sees two theme park workers dressed as Deadpool and Wolverine cracking adult jokes despite being described on the Disneyland app as 'family-friendly' and 'suitable for all ages'. ALBANY, N.Y. — A New York State ballot measure aimed at protecting residents from discrimination may allow illegal immigrants to vote in statewide elections, a civil rights attorney is warning.
Proposition 1, dubbed the Equal Rights Amendment, will appear before New York voters next month. The measure seeks to expand what is considered protected classes under the New York State Constitution, ensuring any such class is granted "equal protection of the laws."
If passed, Proposition 1 will add, among other things, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy and pregnancy outcomes as protected classes.
New Yorkers for Equal Rights, an organization backing Proposition 1, says the measure would cement reproductive rights in the state, guaranteeing they "cannot be rolled back by out-of-touch politicians in the future." It also argues the measure "closes loopholes" so the "most vulnerable" New Yorkers cannot be discriminated against. Click here to read more.

The California government denied a U.S. Air Force request to allow Elon Musk’s SpaceX to increase its California rocket launches, citing Musk’s politics.
The U.S. Department of Defense and a large bipartisan coalition of lawmakers endorsed the launch expansion, with some center-left housing activists attacking the vote as no different than the California Coastal Commission’s consistent denial of housing.
The Air Force and Space Force had requested that the California Coastal Commission allow SpaceX to increase its annual permitted launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara from 36 to 50. “Elon Musk is hopping about the country, spewing and tweeting political falsehoods and attacking FEMA while claiming his desire to help the hurricane victims with free Starlink access to the internet,” said Commissioner Gretchen Newsom at the meeting.
“I really appreciate the work of the Space Force,” said Commission Chair Caryl Hart at the meeting. “But here we’re dealing with a company, the head of which has aggressively injected himself into the presidential race and he’s managed a company in a way that was just described by Commissioner Newsom that I find to be very disturbing.” Click here to read more.
